Haithabu Glass Beads Necklace

Haithabu Glass Beads Necklace

This is the current state of my girl’s glass beads necklace. Like most of our recreations it is looselz based on the findings of Haithabu. The golden foil beads, the blue beam-eye beads, the white and blue ribbed beads and the rock crystal ball beads are made by Pærle-Smiðr. The brown ribbon beads and the disc beads are made by Kjersti Martinsdottir. The red brownish oval beads are made of tempered carnelian.

Belt Knife

Belt Knife

I bought the knife on a fair some years ago. It was a simple inexpensive, but solid knife. I intended to do some little carving on the handle and wanted to build a sheath. Latter in the style of the beautiful sheath findings from Gothland. This summer I finally found time to finish both, the carving and the sheath.

Bone Comb

Bone Comb

I tried some bone carving on this little comb. Afterwards I colored the carvings with charcoal-beeswax.

I’m wearing my new linen tunic. I already showed the black/nature herringbone fabric some posts ago. The sword I wield is my Hanwei Godfred. The shield is made by another reenactor on Wikinger Tage Schleswig. I bought it many years ago. It’s fairly accurate made, even the green coloring is made of natural paint. Only the pictures are painted in waterbased modern colors.
