So I went to Mjolner Bar and restaurant tonight in Melbourne and you’ll never guess what they have on their wall.

A sword from the late 10th to early 11th Century. Got some pretty good photos and would highly recommend the Bar itself for its fantastic aesthetic.

Plus some photos me and my mate took of the 15kg Scotch filled “Mjolnir”

Various stages of in “full kit”

I need a new mail shirt though because this one is about 18kg of all round riveted rings. Instead of having 4:1 solid.

Decided to put everything on because the on season is coming up and I need to see if I have to alter anything.

Excited archery noises

Started some arrows for tomorrow’s school demonstration.

I’ve already got 4 made up for armour piercing purposes, but I intend on making several that are just target points for regular shooting

Thought I’d upload the actual video as well, quality is better than on YouTube

Shot process form checks, figured I’d upload them here as people use them to help draw archers.

I need to keep my elbow higher on lock at the end of my draw, that way my shoulders take the majority of the weight as opposed to my arms.

I’m not the fittest, around the middle so yeah bit overweight, but that’s not the point here.

For those interested, bow is Hereby/Ballinderry style, made of Australian Pink Ash, and is 85#@30"

Got a message over Facebook today, this is my new bow in the works, ready for tillering.

It’s in the Hedeby/Ballinderry style and is suited for my period. It’s going to draw between 80-85lbs@28” hopefully with some overdraw. Made out of Australian Pink Ash.

This is the first viking thing I’ve posted personally in a while, so I’ll update when I can.

With thanks to Outlaw Bows for making this beautiful piece of art.
